How a round-robin schedule works
In a round-robin, every team plays every other team the same number of times. It’s the fairest format for a league or group stage because final standings reflect results against the whole field, not a lucky draw. With N teams a single round-robin has N−1 rounds and N(N−1)/2 games; a double round-robin plays everyone twice — usually once home and once away — for N(N−1) games.
Odd numbers and byes
With an odd number of teams, exactly one team rests each round — a “bye”. This generator adds a bye slot and rotates it so every team sits out the same number of times and no round is lopsided.
